About me

After dabbling in yoga off and on for ages, I took a hot vinyasa flow class a couple of years ago and I was immediately hooked. I love the heat, the sweat, the challenge, the variety—can’t get enough. I have a small home studio, and attend or teach at least one class daily at a local studio. What started as a physical endeavor has evolved into a desire to learn more about the spiritual and mental aspects of yoga as well. Ever the academic, I am on a quest to learn as much as I can in my desire to integrate yoga into my daily life, both on and off the mat.

I got my Yoga Alliance certification from Yandara Yoga Institute in Baja, Mexico, in January 2011. While there, I had my horoscope chart done and, not surprisingly, was told I was in the midst of a period of discovery and redefining my life’s purpose. Sure feels that way. So you won’t find a lot of cute stuff or wit here. Just some musings in an uncensored sort of way. Reflections, thinking out loud—-sharing and learning from the many teachers who cross my path.

In my day job, I am an associate professor teaching health care economics and policy in a graduate program. I have a PhD in health services administration, MS in physical therapy, and BA in psychology. I have done a whole bunch of different things that I will spare you here, but now lead a fairly quiet suburban life in a fly-over state. I cohabitate with a teenager (she is my greatest teacher) and a big old golden retriever that I am simply crazy about. Sculling is my other passion, and I try to commute on two wheels (bike or Vespa) when ever possible.

Someday, when my daughter is off to college, my goal is to retire from academia and make yoga my profession as well as my passion. I am hoping this blog will help me find my voice and my path. I welcome any comments, suggestions, or wisdom you would be so kind so share.

Namaste.
